Responsibilities

Provides acute health care to infants, children and adolescents. This includes health surveillance as well as assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat illness or disease whether acute or chronic, physical, psychosocial or behavioral.

Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients for other services and care as indicated. May also provide primary care services as indicated or needed.

Reports to Chief Nursing Officer. Refer to Delineation of Privileges for specific scope of practice.

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Two (2) years of pediatric acute care setting; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

License / Registration / Certification

• Must possess Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensed in the state of Texas.
• Must possess an Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License number or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Education and Training

• Graduation from an advanced nursing practice program accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing or other National accrediting body recognized by Texas Board of Nursing.

Skills
