Qualifications

• Physician Assistant Program or Program Certificate equivalent.
• 1 year - Appropriate Clinical Experience.
• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in the state in which the team member is working.
• BLS certification.
• Prescriptive Authority for state in which team member is working; Controlled Substance license; Federal DEA license.
• Completion of Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program or approved Surgical Physician Assistant graduate program.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistant surgical services in the operating room and other selected medical services under the direction of the surgeon.
• Assists surgeon with prepping and until completion of procedure.
• Removes drains, tubes and catheters.
• Closes incisions and assists with postoperative care and visits.
• Performs all charting, summaries, correspondence and required paperwork for documenting care and billing.
• Participates in physician educational programs related to capitated medicine and practice patterns.
• Establishment of quality assurance programs.
• Establishment of Utilization Management programs.
• Selection of management information systems.
• Development of patient education surveys and patient satisfaction surveys.
• Assists in the development of operational and capital budgets.
• Participates in operational assessments for revenue enhancement, expense reductions, and billing opportunities.
• Assists in post-operative care including daily rounds and wound assessments.

Job Summary

• Provides general surgical assistant services in operating room.10%
• Assists surgeon with prepping and until completion of procedure.15%
