Job summary

AdvantageCare Physicians is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who specializes in primary care medicine and imaging to provide medical services in collaboration with our Primary Care physicians.

The ideal candidate will have NYS NP or PA credentials, relevant licenses, current board certification, 2 years of primary care experience, and strong written and verbal communication skills, plus proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner education program registered by the NYS Education Department.
• Master’s Degree.
• Licensed and currently registered as a Registered Nurse by NYS.
• Current New York State Registration as Nurse Practitioner.
• Current Board Certification as an NP from a NYS approved accrediting body.
• Bachelor/BS in Physician Studies with MS in Physician Studies; ARC-PA accreditation for PA.
• ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program; NCCPA certification.
• Minimum 2-year Primary Care experience.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written) and EMR/Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents patient history as appropriate to chief complaint or reason for visit.
• Conducts physical exams and evaluates patient, documenting findings.
• Diagnoses and treats disease and manages chronic illness.
• Prescribes medication per NYS and federal law.
• Orders and interprets laboratory, radiological and special tests; interprets results.
• Provides preventive health services, including health education and counseling.
• Collaborates with clinicians and staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Principal Accountabilities

• Obtains and documents patient history as appropriate to chief complaint or reason for visit.
• Conducts relevant physical exam and evaluates patient, documenting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Diagnoses and treats disease and manages chronic illness.
• Prescribes medication in accordance with New York State and federal law.
• Orders appropriate laboratory, radiological and special examinations or tests; interprets results
• Provides preventative health services, including health education and counseling.
• Collaborates with other clinicians and staff members to ensure continuity of care of patients.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

• Current NCCPA Board Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) (R)
• Minimum 2-year Primary Care experience (R)
• Must possess strong communication skills both oral and written
• Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office

Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• 2-3 years of related experience
• Experience working with diverse populations in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
• BLS
• ACLS strongly preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
