The NP/PA will provide coverage for full-time APPs during planned and unanticipated absences, with in-person sessions based on location within the Mass General Brigham footprint. Candidates should be licensed as an APRN or equivalent, with 2 years of NP experience (1–2 years required) and a strong focus on patient care.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree Nursing required.
  • Experience in lieu of degree not accepted.
  • APRN-NP state license required.
  • 2 years of licensed NP experience; 1-2 years required.
  • Five years of experience as NP/PA preferred (Primary Care, inpatient, geriatrics, perioperative medicine, or pre-operative optimization).

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions per policies.
  • Documents admissions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in a timely manner.
  • Performs bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population.

Job Summary

We are seeking a per diem Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in providing care to patients throughout the perioperative care continuum. This role is designed to provide coverage and support for our full-time APPs during planned and unanticipated absences.

Scheduling needs may vary seasonally; however, per diem Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants should be available to work a minimum of approximately 10 hours per month, with potential opportunities to work up to three to four 8-hour shifts per month based on departmental needs.

To support patient access and minimize travel, in-person clinical sessions will be based on the selected candidate’s geographic location within the Mass General Brigham footprint.

Potential practice locations include:

  • 850 Boylston Street – Chestnut Hill, MA
  • 55 Fruit Street – Boston, MA
  • 2014 Washington Street – Newton, MA

With possible future practice sites including:

  • 20 Patriot Place – Foxborough, MA
  • 102–104 Endicott Street – Danvers, MA

Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
