Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to deliver high-quality neurosurgery care across inpatient units and ambulatory clinics.

Applicants must hold Wisconsin NP or PA licensure, board certification, and a DEA license or eligibility, with experience in neurosurgery and critical care environments preferred. First Assist in OR and collaborative team care are key aspects.

Qualifications

• Must hold active Wisconsin NP or PA licensure.
• Active DEA license or eligible to apply.
• Board certification in NP or PA specialty.
• Ability to perform First Assist in the OR.
• Experience with neurosurgery and ICU settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to adult neurosurgery patients in inpatient units and clinics.
• Collaborate with faculty, residents, fellows, surgeons, and nursing staff to coordinate care.
• See new and follow-up neurosurgery patients in the clinic.
• Perform inpatient rounding on general neurosurgery patients.
• First Assist in the OR.
• Participate in UW Health’s APP Advisory Council and related leadership activities.
• Support APP leadership structure and professional development within UW Health.

Description: Be part of something remarkable As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient and ambulatory care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to:

• Provide care to adult clinical and research neurosurgery patients on the Neuro General Units and Neurosurgery Clinics.
• Work in collaboration with faculty, residents, fellows, surgeons, and nursing staff to provide on-going patient care and management.
• See new and followup neurosurgery patients in the clinic setting.
• Perform inpatient rounding on general neurosurgery patients.
• First Assist in the OR

Education: Minimum – If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program. If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program. Licenses and Certifications: Minimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure. If Nurse Practitioner*:

• Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
• Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Adult, Adult/Geriatric Acute Care, Adult/Geriatric Primary Care

If Physician Assistant*:

• Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
• Active PA board certification

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.

• Active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice. This may include licensing in Wisconsin and other state(s) of practice.
