Overview

In collaboration with a physician, the Oncology NP / PA manages outpatient care in Cutaneous Oncology. Responsibilities include managing acute and chronic problems, providing anticipatory guidance, patient and family education, and psychological support. The NP / PA has prescriptive authority for schedule II-V controlled substances in Massachusetts.

The role requires effective communication within an interdisciplinary team, critical thinking, understanding of research principles, and leadership to improve care quality. Formal and informal learning opportunities are encouraged. The position involves weekend rotation coverage.

Qualifications

NP Qualifications

  • Authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts.
  • Current certification from a recognized accrediting body approved by MA Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • Minimum 24 contact hours in pharmacotherapeutics beyond generic education.
  • At least 1 year of oncology nursing or NP experience; oncology NP experience preferred.
  • Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Federal DEA numbers.
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing (preferred).

PA Qualifications

  • Masters Degree and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Studies program.
  • NCCPA Certification and MA license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current DEA and MA Controlled Substance Licenses.
  • Complete 100 hours of CME every 2 years.
  • Experience
  • PA I (none), PA II (2+ years), PA III (5+ years).
