Job description

Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the healthcare team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for disseminating knowledge through instructing, leading, and developing educational programs.

SOLID TUMOR ONCOLOGY INPATIENT

Cleveland Clinic Cancer Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for an inpatient Solid Tumor Oncology position within the Department of Hematology & Oncology. This role involves treating inpatient adults with solid tumors, rounding with attending physicians and team members, monitoring and reporting on patient status, and managing admission H&P. Additional responsibilities include: managing division patients, symptom management, assessment, orders, and discharge summaries.

Work Schedule: Four ten-hour shifts with minimal weekend coverage.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations, initiate appropriate tests, and analyze data to develop diagnoses and treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  2. Perform and interpret routine diagnostic procedures, including laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic tests, as credentialed and privileged.
  3. Perform routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged.
  4. Prescribe and monitor medications as permitted by license and hospital policies.
  5. Educate patients about their conditions, treatments, side effects, and hazards.
  6. Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate regularly with healthcare team members to ensure quality care.
  7. Refer patients to specialists as appropriate.
  8. Ensure continuity of care and serve as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team.
  9. Participate in quality monitoring and review treatment plans for patient outcomes.
  10. Facilitate discharge planning and ensure regulatory compliance for inpatient management.
  11. Support professional development of the healthcare team and promote evidence-based practices.
  12. May conduct research, assist in data collection, and serve as a clinical preceptor or onboard new caregivers.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications

For APRN: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years; graduate of an accredited APRN program.

For PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program; Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher.

Languages

English communication skills required.

Certifications

Details vary by role (NP, CNS, PA), including licensure, certification, BLS, ACLS/PALS/NRP, DEA registration, and specific privileges. Candidates must have arrangements with physicians and be credentialed and privileged by hospital committees.

Work Experience & Physical Requirements

Related clinical experience preferred. Physical demands include walking, standing, manual dexterity, vision, hearing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to communicable diseases may occur.
