For inpatient assignments, assists the attending physician in the care and management of patients on inpatient units within the hospital. Responsibilities include making patient rounds, contributing to daily care decisions, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and coordinating therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures. Will conduct frequent bedside visits to assess patient status and direct care accordingly. May also see patients in the clinic environment.
For emergency department assignments, assists ED physicians in comprehensive medical care of patients in the emergency department and chest pain observation unit, and in roles deemed appropriate by the supervisory physician, consistent with applicable law, hospital regulation, licensure, and clinical privileges. The incumbent will consult with the supervisory physician to determine the most appropriate care for patients. Acute Care ARNP or PA required.
For clinic assignments, under supervision of an attending physician, provides diagnostic and therapeutic healthcare coverage, including taking medical histories, performing physical exams, coordinating lab tests and diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and assisting with treatment planning and patient education. Additional duties may include sharing call hours, phone coverage, and seeing admitted patients within the hospital.
For ICU assignments, assists the attending ICU physician in patient care and management. Responsibilities include making patient rounds, contributing to daily care decisions, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and coordinating tests and procedures. Will make frequent bedside visits to assess patient status and direct care accordingly. Acute Care ARNP or PA required.
Minimum education and experience: Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant. Must meet Medical Staff Office requirements to obtain and retain privileges as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse within UF Health Shands Hospital and/or the Shands UF Healthcare Network. Specific area requirements vary: Adult ICUs (AGACNP), Emergency Medicine (AGACNP), Pediatric ICU (PNP-AC), Neonatal ICU (NNP or PNP-AC), Surgical/Operative Adult (RNFA), Adult Clinic/Primary Care (AGACNP, AGPCNP, or FNP), Pediatric Clinic/Primary Care (PNP or FNP), Nurse Midwife (CNM or APRN with Florida midwifery license), Psychology/Psychiatry (PMHNP). Licensure: Current and clear license as an APRN or PA in Florida. BLS certification required.
Position involves no vehicle operation. Licensure and certification requirements must be maintained.
