Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies, an industry leader in correctional health care, is seeking a Full-Time NP/PA at MCI-Norfolk in Norfolk, MA. The role focuses on ambulatory care within a correctional environment, collaborating with healthcare professionals and security staff under physician supervision.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited NP/PA program, holds MA licenses, and has an interest in correctional care. This position offers comprehensive benefits and a 32-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program.
• Must possess current MA licenses/certifications for NP or PA.
• Correctional care experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patients, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT POSITION

SUMMARY

The NP/PA utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus in a correctional environment. The NP/PA works with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers in a correctional environment to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.

NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of MA
• Experience in Correctional desired but not required
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners in the healthcare unit.
