The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is looking for a Per Diem Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for a dayshift in the Perinatal Eval Center & Postpartum @ HUP.
Penn Medicine seeks a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner committed to diversity, population health, and patient care in the Perinatal Evaluation Center (our emergency room for pregnant and postpartum patients). Experience with resident training and education is a plus. Our multidisciplinary team includes OB/GYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, Neonatologists, Midwives, and Residents, all working together to optimize patient care.
The PEC functions as the OB triage unit, HUP's ED for pregnant women over 16 weeks gestation. It features 10 triage beds, an ultrasound evaluation area, and is adjacent to HUP's Labor and Delivery suite. It serves as an initial contact point for obstetric concerns. The team, comprising nurses, NPs, CNMs, and RNs, collaborates closely with physicians to develop individualized care plans. Although the PEC and Labor and Delivery are separate units, they operate as a cohesive team to ensure quality care. Each team member is vital to our TEAM approach, which enhances patient outcomes.
The Advanced Practice Nurse will report to the Perinatal Nurse Manager, responsible for administrative oversight, including hospital CEQI indicators. The collaborating physician, an OB/GYN attending or laborist, will oversee clinical duties, lead orientation, and assess clinical skills annually.
Hours vary based on patient care needs, including day, night shifts, weekends, and holidays, as the department provides 24/7 care.
Requirements include ongoing hospital continuing education per TJC and regulatory agencies.
