Nurse Practitioner – Pediatric Oncology

Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco

Department: Pediatric Oncology | Division of Hematology/Oncology

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner – Pediatric Oncology to join our dynamic Pediatric Oncology team at Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. This role functions at an advanced level, bridging nursing and physician-led care to deliver outstanding oncology services to pediatric inpatients, with additional responsibilities in ambulatory patient follow-up.

As a key member of a multidisciplinary care team, the Nurse Practitioner will operate with autonomy and clinical authority, contributing to the ongoing excellence and continuity of care in our renowned Oncology program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive clinical management to pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant (BMT) inpatients and select ambulatory patients.
  • Act as an integral member of the care team, coordinating closely with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
  • Ensure safe and evidence-based delivery of care, meeting all clinical, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor patient progress, conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and participate in family education.
  • Support oncology protocols, including chemotherapy management and follow-up care planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and meet productivity and quality expectations as determined by the Division Chief.
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPNP-AC certification (Candidates without this will not be considered)
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner specialization
  • Current RN and NP licensure in the state of California
  • BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)
Experience Requirements

Nurse Practitioner I:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Pediatric Oncology or Pediatric BMT

Nurse Practitioner II:

  • Minimum 6 months of NP experience in a Pediatric Oncology or BMT setting
