Job Overview

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures, referring questionable situations to a physician. The NP provides primary health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve patients' health. The NP also reports safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing required
  • Current NJ RN license, CDS, and DEA
  • CPR certification
  • NP Certification
  • 3-5 years of professional nursing experience
  • ICU/Critical Care experience required

Essential Functions
  • Administers injections, immunizations, oral medications, and starts IVs
  • Assists physicians with documentation, diagnostic orders, and transcriptions
  • Provides counseling and educational services
  • Billing in accordance with CMS and NJ regulations
  • Develops care plans with the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintains accurate patient records
  • Collaborates with other medical providers
  • Performs patient examinations, diagnoses, and prescribes treatments
  • Educates patients and families about health, medications, and treatments
  • Issues prescriptions per regulations
  • Orders and reviews lab and diagnostic procedures
  • Participates in protocol development
  • Conducts medical histories and physical exams
  • Handles emergency evaluations and treatments
  • Ensures continuity of care between visits
  • Maintains compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other policies
  • Reviews and audits patient charts
  • Performs wound suturing, incision, and drainage
  • Works with physicians to diagnose conditions as needed
