  • At least two years’ experience in Rural Health practice preferred.
  • Computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS: Full Time. 4 days a week in Watseka.GENERAL SUMMARYThe Nurse Practitioner is professional staff member, who provides healthcare, evaluation and treatment to patients. The Nurse Practitioner is under the collaborative supervision of the physician.GIBSON AREA HOSPITAL & HEALTH SERVICES MISSION STATEMENTTo provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the Communities we serve.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Practice under the supervision of the clinic’s medical direction.2. Perform physical examinations, laboratory tests and health screening measures.3. Teach patients all aspects of health care.4. Counsel patients and families on family issues as appropriate.5. Refer patients to other health care providers or community agencies when and as appropriate.6. Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift, push/pull 60-300 pounds with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8-12 hours and perform, constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers in patient care and use of patient care equipment.2. Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:• Floor to waist - 40 pounds• 14” to waist - 50 pounds• Waist to shoulder - 20 pounds• Shoulder to overhead - 10 pounds• Carry 40 pounds 30 feet• Push 40 pounds/force 30 feet• Pull 40 pounds/force 10 feet3. Keen mental faculties to observe patient status change.4. Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.5. Emotional stability conductive to dealing with a high stress level for 8-12 hours at a time associated with caring for acute patients/SO, fast paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physician, and other health care workers.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPReports to the Physician at the clinicEDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:1. Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program leading to a Master’s Degree and/or meets the Advanced Nursing Practice or Physician’s Assistant requirements set forth by the Illinois State Board of Nursing or the Illinois Medical Licensure Board.2. Must possess appropriate certification and degree from a United States Institution of Higher Education.3. Must be licensed to practice in the State of Illinois prior to beginning employment.4. At least two years’ experience in Rural Health practice preferred.5.
