Job Summary
The Wound Management APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides leadership and direct patient care services for patients with a variety of wounds. The wound care APP provides direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting, performs physical exams, provides clinical expertise, collects and documents data, and conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. In addition, the APP performs procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, serves as a professional consultant, coordinates care among the interdisciplinary teams, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. The Wound Care APP works collaboratively with a variety of health care providers and teams in planning and the coordination of patient care. The Wound Care NP/PA contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization.
Working Conditions
The work environment involves risk discomforts that are typical of an acute care setting to include working with patients under isolation and universal precautions. It requires safety precautions, ongoing education and health risk monitoring. Contact with specimens, chemicals, sharps, radiation, technical equipment and fumes are possible. Employees are required to wear personal protective attire according to hospital policies and OSHA guidelines. The work activity and patient acuity levels can create a stressful atmosphere.

Procedures performed may include but not limited to:
• Sharp debridement
• Punch biopsy
• Shave biopsy
• Incision & Drainage
• Compression wrap application
• Application of skin substitutes
• Debridement of nails & callous
• Suture placement
Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
PA: Graduate of ARC accredited Physician Assistant program
NP: Graduate of accredited MSN or DNP Nurse Practitioner program for adult care.
Certification
PA: PA-C
NP: AGNP or AGACNP or ACNP or FNP
Licensure
PA: Current unrestricted license issued by the NCMB with approval to practice as PA
NP: Current unrestricted RN license issued by or recognized by the NCBON with approval to practice as an NP.
Experience
PA: Minimum 1- year experience as a Physician Assistant preferred, but not required
NP: Minimum 1-year experience as an NP or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Job Hours
Primary hours will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, and other hours as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
