Job Summary: Geisinger’s Nutrition and Weight Management Department is seeking an advanced practitioner to join our team at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.

Job Duties:

This Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide services to patients and families in the Nutrition and Weight Management Clinic in accordance with established organizational policies and professional standards. This role will include evaluating and taking care of patients who will be undergoing a cutting-edge endoscopic weight loss procedure.

This position will work in collaboration and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services through the more effective use of the physician assistant's knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and plan therapy. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on her/his assigned clinical area.

Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.

Duties include:

  • Help with patient evaluation, patient coordination, and growth of endobariatric program. Working with advanced endoscopist team in managing patient is in bariatric process and postprocedure.
  • Evaluating patients with obesity and developing a treatment plan including conservative management (diet and behavioral changes), pharmacotherapy, and/or bariatric procedures (endoscopic and surgical options).
  • Evaluating patients with malnutrition and working with physician and registered dietitian to develop treatment plans.
  • Gastrostomy tube management.

Reports to the Nutrition and Weight Management lead Advanced Practitioner.

Previous experience in bariatrics and/or nutrition preferred.

Work is typically performed in an outpatient clinical environment.

Certification(s) and License(s): Basic Life Support Certification, Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
