Job description:
  • Makes all professional medical judgments in the care of patients seen.
  • Manages the physician/patient relationship.
  • Participates in system wide health management initiatives.
  • Provides input into the practice sites financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of clinical and service standards.
  • Receives and resolves patient complaints.
  • Participates in the recruitment and replacement of other providers.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
  • Advises other providers regarding optimal and cost-effective treatment of patients with endocrine disorders.
  • Manage acute and chronic diseases.
  • Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic x-ray and lab tests.
  • Prescribe treatments medications and non-pharmacologic therapies.
  • Involved in teaching and counseling individuals, families and groups.
  • Work autonomously as well as collaborate with other health care providers as needed.
  • Serve as health care resources, interdisciplinary consultants and patient advocate.
Additional Job Description:

The minimum requirements are as follows:
For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC or AANP certification required.
For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners preferred.
