Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital seeks qualified Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to join the Medical‑Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) multidisciplinary team.

You will care for critically ill patients across ages, collaborate with supervising physicians on assessments, and participate in rounds, teaching, and ongoing research. Position Summary/ Department Summary

The Medical‑Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks qualified Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Providing care to infants, children, and adults with critical illness. Collaborating with supervising physicians to conduct patient assessments and medical history, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems. Caring for patients with both acute and chronic disease by managing therapeutic regimens according to approved guidelines. Participating in intensive care unit medical rounds, including the presentation of clinical information and the progress and management of patients. Assisting with establishing a treatment plan and being included in all teaching activities conducted by the MSICU attending staff. Participating in ongoing research in the MSICU and offering expertise as a consultant and educator to other staff. Ability to work full time, 40 hours/week, day/night rotation with every 3rd weekend, 12-hour shifts. Opportunities also available for permanent nights with every 4th weekend rotation.

Minimum QualificationsEducation

Master of Science in Nursing or Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies

Experience

1 year of critical care experience preferred. Will consider new graduates with previous relevant experience. Solid medical knowledge base for critical care medicine. Critical thinking skills and adaptability. Excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff, and trainees.

Licensure/ Certifications

A current Massachusetts NP or PA license required* This role offers a competitive sign‑on bonus, based on experience, for applicants new to Boston Children’s Hospital.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good‑faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job‑related factors.
