Job description

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Hem/Onc - Melanoma / Cutaneous Malignancy, Full-time, Days

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient hematology/oncology Melanoma/Cutaneous Malignancy program. The APP will demonstrate clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities, including diagnosis and management of health problems within the melanoma and cutaneous malignancy population. Responsible for health outcomes of this patient population, collaborating with physicians and other health professionals, developing educational systems, mentoring students, and participating in quality improvement and research.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, days; Four 10-hour shifts (day off TBD). No nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call.

Essential Functions
  • Provide patient care activities including diagnosis, management, and treatment of health problems.
  • Manage health outcomes of the assigned patient population.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Develop educational resources for patients, families, and staff.
  • Mentor students and participate in quality improvement and research initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct health assessments, physical exams, and provide direct clinical care.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies, order and interpret tests, perform procedures (e.g., biopsies).
  • Evaluate patients for further care needs, provide education, document care, and refer as needed.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, maintain certifications, and participate in professional development.
  • Participate in committees and provide education to staff and external groups.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Illinois RN license and APRN license, or Physician Assistant license.
  • Certification as an APRN or PA, with privileges through Northwestern Medicine.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Oncology experience as an APP required.
