This position offers an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specializing in Gastroenterology in Brooklyn.

Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for providing, coordinating, and ensuring comprehensive nursing care, including diagnosis and therapeutic measures, within a collaborative practice agreement with a physician at NYU Hospitals Center.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and organize patient care plans to meet individual needs, utilizing clinical resources efficiently.
  • Monitor and evaluate the cost-effectiveness and performance indicators of the service.
  • Assist in research protocol development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement clinical studies and practice changes based on evidence-based literature.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and monitor patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and educator for peers and other health professionals.
  • Maintain current expertise and pursue professional growth.
  • Consider patient age, cultural background, and individual needs in all care activities.
  • Evaluate and modify treatment plans as needed, and prescribe medications and therapies according to protocols and laws.
  • Order diagnostic tests, interpret findings, and coordinate care with other physicians and disciplines.
  • Perform health assessments and psychosocial evaluations.
  • Ensure effective communication within the healthcare team and with patients and families.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current NYS registration as a Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Certification from ANCC or equivalent, obtained within a feasible timeframe post-graduation.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
  • At least five years of clinical nursing experience, with previous NP experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
