Job description

IU Health is seeking a Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our Virtual Care Behavioral Health team!

This position provides virtual consults to 15+ emergency departments, inpatient units, and primary care offices throughout the state of Indiana.

Position Details:

  • Full-Time, Days
    • 5-8 hour shifts/week
    • 8:00am-5:00pm
    • No weekends, holidays, or call
  • Expected patient volume: 100/week
  • 20% inpatient work, 80% outpatient work
  • Team includes 1 physician and 7 advanced practice providers
  • Ability to work remotely from home

Qualifications:

  • PMHNP-BC or PA with psychiatric certification and strong psychiatric background required
  • At least one year of psychiatric APP experience required

Job Description/Key Responsibilities:

  • This position provides virtual consults to 15+ emergency departments, inpatient units, Urgent Care Centers, and primary care offices throughout Indiana.
  • Patients range in age from young children to geriatrics.
  • Focus on crisis assessment, including dispositioning patients with suicidal or homicidal ideation, suicide attempts, acute psychosis, and substance abuse treatment. Also involves medication management, treatment recommendations, capacity evaluations, and triage.
  • Must be comfortable working independently and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team including social workers, nurses, and other care team members.
  • Responsible for managing clinical load and staffing clinical cases with non-provider team members.
