Wellstar Medical Group is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Comprehensive Aortic Program at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
As an APP in this innovative program, you will collaborate closely with cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, and genetic counselors to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum – from inpatient management to outpatient follow-up and surveillance.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with acute and chronic aortic disease in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Perform history and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop and implement treatment plans, and monitor progress.
Assist in the management of patients undergoing open and endovascular aortic procedures.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for patient case discussions, treatment planning, and long-term surveillance.
Coordinate genetic screening and family-based care pathways for patients with hereditary aortic conditions.
Educate patients and families on disease process, treatment options, and follow-up care.
Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways and protocols specific to aortic disease.
Participate in data collection, outcomes tracking, and quality improvement initiatives within the Comprehensive Aortic Program.
Share responsibility for on-call rotation and weekend coverage as needed.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Current Georgia licensure as an NP or PA, with prescriptive authority.
Minimum 2 years of APP experience, preferably in cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery, or cardiology.
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Commitment to patient-centered care and lifelong learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in managing patients with complex aortic conditions.
Familiarity with CT angiography, vascular imaging, and postoperative surveillance protocols.
Experience with Epic EMR and clinical documentation.
Participation in research, registry data, or quality initiatives related to vascular or cardiothoracic disease.
