Job summary

Allina Health Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant to join the practice at Abbott Northwestern Hospital (Minneapolis) and United Hospital (St. Paul). Rounding only, 1.0 position / 40 hours per week, 10-hour days, inpatient and outpatient duties.

The role includes weekend rotation about 1 weekend per month, EMR: Excellian, and a strong emphasis on team collaboration and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Experience in Critical Care required
• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire; Active MN NP/PA license; BLS within 180 days

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
• Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team.
• Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
• Acts as resource to members of the team.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
• Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Experience in Critical Care required

Preferred Qualifications:

• New graduates may be considered with relevant experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• Active MN NP/PA license (or ability to obtain)
• BLS certification required with in 180 days of hire
• Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for credentialing and hospital privileges.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Physical Demands:

Pay Range

Pay Range: $56.48 to $78.15 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
