Description
Location and Hours
The Direct Referral Unit (DRU) is located at Temple Women & Family Hospital and operates Monday through Friday from 12pm to 8pm, with referrals coordinated through the OBGYN clinic and hospital’s labor and delivery unit or emergency department as needed.

Treats and evaluates patients; administers advanced nursing care Performs a wide variety of patient care activities including diagnosis, the prescription of medical therapeutics in collaboration with a licensed physician. Contributes to a safe and therapeutic environment that is centered on the needs of the patients, caregivers and others demonstrating concern for the patient's privacy, comfort, and emotional state. Treats patient with consideration to age, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic background, and culture in a caring, ethical, and professional manner.
Overview
The Direct Referral Unit at Temple Women & Families Hospital is dedicated to providing comprehensive and expedited care for established obstetric and gynecologic (OB/GYN) patients referred for specialized evaluation and treatment. Our multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, gynecologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff ensures high-quality, patient-centered care in a streamlined setting.
The DRU is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, RN and Patient Care Tech. Care delivery is anticipated to be in the following areas: Hyperemesis gravidarium, Iron deficiency, Post-GYN surgical concerns, vaginal bleeding, post-partum blood pressure monitoring and lab assessment, stable pregnancy of unknown location, Bartholin/labial cyst abscess treatment, STI/UTI evaluation and treatment, IUD complications, emergency contraception, and post-exposure testing and prophylaxis.
Education
Bachelors Degree : in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. (Required)
Masters Degree : in Nursing from an accredited Nursing program. (Required)
Experience
2 Years experience as a nurse practitioner (Preferred)
1 Year experience in a clinical specialty practice (Preferred)
1 Year experience in emergency department practice (Preferred)
1 year outpatient/ambulatory experience (Preferred)
Experience in an EPIC environment (Preferred)
License/Certifications
CRNP - PA Cert Reg Nurse Practitioner (Required)
RN-LIC - PA Registered Nurse License (Required)
PRX-AUTH - Prescriptive Authority (Preferred)
BLS - Basic Life Support (Required)
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
