Description

The OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner (NP) will plan, direct, and evaluate women’s reproductive and general health care services in an ambulatory care setting. The NP will provide comprehensive care to patients across the reproductive lifespan, including well-woman exams, contraceptive counseling, prenatal and postnatal care, menopause management, and the treatment of acute and chronic gynecologic conditions. The NP will perform in-office procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, write prescriptions, and refer to physicians as appropriate. Collaboration with the supervising OB/GYN physician and care team is essential for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities
  1. Conducts initial consultations and ongoing care visits, including annual well-woman exams, pap smears, breast exams, and pelvic exams.
  2. Provides prenatal and postnatal care in accordance with clinical guidelines and under physician collaboration.
  3. Manages common gynecologic conditions such as infections, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, and menopause-related concerns.
  4. Counsels patients on contraceptive options and provides services such as IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal, and emergency contraception.
  5. Performs minor in-office procedures within scope, including endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, and cryotherapy.
  6. Orders, reviews, and interprets lab work and diagnostic imaging (e.g., ultrasounds, STI panels, hormone testing).
  7. Writes prescriptions and manages medications in alignment with patient needs and clinical protocols.
  8. Educates and counsels patients on reproductive health, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  9. Supports patients dealing with reproductive health challenges, including infertility, pregnancy loss, or postpartum depression.
  10. Coordinates care with OB/GYN physicians and other specialists as needed.
  11. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  12. Provides continuity of care for patients referred from other facilities or returning for follow-up.
  13. Serves as a clinical resource for staff and contributes to the development of policies and procedures affecting patient care.
  14. May travel to other CLS clinics as needed.

Requirements
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
  • Previous experience in OB/GYN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient education and empowerment.
