Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Medical center’s Center for Perioperative Optimization in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center seeks a flexible Advanced Practice professional to evaluate elective surgery patients prior to procedures. The role follows nurse practitioner or PA agreements and Maryland state credentialing rules.

Shifts are 10-hour days Monday–Friday with an orientation period and potential transition to four 10-hour days.

Qualifications

  • MSN or DNP from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN and CRNP license required.
  • Certification as Adult Gerontology or Family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland.
  • Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program.
  • BLS CPR certification required (AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted).
  • At least 3 years of acute care RN experience; ICU or cardiology experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate elective surgery patients pre-procedure within unit guidelines and hospital policy.
  • Order or refer items/services for Medicare beneficiaries; enrollment in PECOS may be required.
  • Join Johns Hopkins Hospital Advanced Practice Team and contribute to patient-centered, evidence-based care.

Job description

The Center for Perioperative Optimization (CPO), located in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center,evaluates elective surgery patients prior to their procedure. The APP practices within the guidelines of the unit department, and institution and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland.

Shifts:

10 hour Day shifts Monday – Friday; no weekends.

  • Orientation period requires five days/week; 8 hours for training with goal of transitioning to four 10-hour days once proficiency is developed. Orientation is usually around 6 weeks.
Qualifications:
  • MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN and CRNP license are required.
  • Current certifications as an Adult Gerontology or Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland or letter from MBON approving practice as a Nurse Practitioner Graduate while awaiting completing of JHH affiliate credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Successful completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program.
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.
  • The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of acute care RN work experience; ICU or advanced practice in cardiology beneficial.

Salary Range: Minimum 58.03/hour - Maximum 89.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
