The role emphasizes independent practice with physician collaboration, patient education, and ongoing care management. Evening hours from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, on-site in Maryland, with contract status and potential transition to permanent employment.

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted state license as NP or PA.
• Master's degree in nursing or physician assistant education.
• National certification required (ANCC/AANP or NCCPA).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and preventive health services.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Perform procedures including injections, suturing, wound care, and infection control.
• Develop care plans, monitor progress, and ensure continuity of care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests; manage medications within scope.
• Educate patients on diagnoses, treatments, and wellness.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team; refer when needed.
• Maintain accurate health records and clinical documentation.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a collaborative healthcare team providing high-quality patient care in an occupational and ambulatory health setting. This is an excellent opportunity for an advanced practice provider who enjoys working independently while partnering closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

What you will be doing:

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and provide preventive health services in accordance with established clinical guidelines.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and ongoing health conditions.
• Perform clinical procedures, including injections, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
• Develop individualized patient care plans, monitor progress, and help ensure continuity of care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate and manage clinical conditions.
• Prescribe or recommend medications, therapies, and other appropriate treatments within scope of practice.
• Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, preventive care, health maintenance, and overall wellness.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Refer patients to physicians, specialists, or other healthcare resources when clinically appropriate.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely patient health records and clinical documentation.
• Provide education, guidance, and coaching to nursing staff regarding clinical best practices.
• Support occupational health services and workplace health initiatives as needed.

What you must have:

Nurse Practitioner Candidates

• Current and unrestricted state RN license.
• Current state Nurse Practitioner license/certification.
• Current state prescriptive authority, if applicable.
• Current national Nurse Practitioner certification through ANCC or AANP.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing. If the degree or certificate does not specifically indicate Nursing, transcripts may be required.
• Federal DEA registration matching the state of practice, when applicable.
• State controlled substance or narcotic license, if required by the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification with hands-on training through the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or equivalent.
• ACLS certification may be required depending on the scope of services.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in ambulatory care, occupational health, family practice, urgent care, or an emergency department setting.

Physician Assistant Candidates

• Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.
• Current national certification through the NCCPA.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current prescriptive authority and DEA registration, as applicable to the position and state requirements.
• State controlled substance or narcotic license, if required.
• Current BLS certification with hands-on training through AHA, ARC, or equivalent.
• ACLS certification may be required depending on the scope of services.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in ambulatory care, occupational health, family practice, urgent care, or an emergency department setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Occupational Health experience.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner Certification.
• Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision‑making skills.
• Excellent patient communication and education skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong documentation and electronic health record skills.

Other Information

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Employment: Contract with potential Temp-to-Perm opportunity

• Preferred Certification: DOT Medical Examiner Certification is a plus
