Role Description

The Family Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive Neurology care services to patients across the lifespan in an on-site clinical setting located in Tucson, AZ. This full-time or part-time role includes conducting patient assessments, performing physical exams, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, and prescribing appropriate medications and treatments under established protocols. The practitioner will coordinate care with physician and other clinicians, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient with plan of care focused on health promotion. Daily responsibilities also include documenting encounters in the medical record, supporting urgent care needs when required, sending medications as needed and participating in quality improvement and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Nurse Practitioner practice, including autonomous clinical decision-making and collaborative care.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine appropriate care plans.
• Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions.
• Manage acute pain, chronic conditions, and complex cases across multiple diagnosis.
• Strong Nursing foundation with experience in patient assessment, and care planning.
• Proficiency in General Health Care and Neurology across the lifespan, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and health education.
• Solid grounding in Medicine, including diagnostic reasoning, pharmacology, and evidence-based guidelines relevant to Neurology.
• Ability to manage patients’ health and triage appropriately.
• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Arizona and national certification (e.g., FNP) or eligibility to obtain.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program; clinical experience in primary care or neurology-related settings is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, commitment to non-discriminatory, inclusive patient care, and ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Competence with electronic health records and basic clinical technologies; HIPAA compliant and bilingual skills are a plus.
• Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to care for remote or underserved populations.

Skills

• Proven experience with Epic EMR systems or similar EHR platforms such as eClinical Works, Cerner or Citrix.
• Skilled in reading laboratory and imaging reports as well as spinal tap procedures.
• Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; hospital medicine or emergency room backgrounds are highly valued.
• Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for accurate medical documentation and billing processes.
• Experience in diverse clinical environments including outpatient clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice & palliative medicine settings.
• Strong background in adult (internal medicine), geriatrics (memory care), and behavioral health services.
• Familiarity with occupational health protocols such as workplace injury management under workers' compensation law.
• Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on anatomy knowledge and physiology; adept at managing airway management and ventilator support when needed.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; experience in post-acute care or home care settings is advantageous.
