Qualifications

• ACLS and DEA credentials are required.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
• Assisting in emergency cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries.
• Vein harvesting / retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduits.
• Managing consults and referrals from the ED, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.
• Routine rounding, coordination of care, ordering/interpreting tests, and writing prescriptions.
• Temporary Privileges available within approximately one week for clean files.

Locum Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery – Springfield, OH

Practice Description

Dates & Scheduling

• Start / End Date: As soon as credentialed. Ongoing coverage needed for 1 to 2 weeks per month through 2026 and into 2027.
• Shift Type: Varied (Mon-Fri 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
• Call Requirements: Yes (In-house and Beeper/Phone call).
• Weekdays: Floor call/beeper from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Weekends: 24-hour onsite support, floor call, or OR call (Expect ~10 callback hours over the weekend).

Practice Setting & Patient Care

• Setting: 100% Inpatient / Hospital-Based (Trauma Level 2)
• Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
• Average Daily Patient Volume: 20-26 hospital patients
• Leadership / Teaching: Potential opportunity to supervise or teach.
• EMR: Epic

Required Duties & Skills

• Vein harvesting / retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduits (Required to take vein during heart surgery).
• Managing consults and referrals from the ED, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.
• Routine rounding, coordination of care, ordering/interpreting tests, and writing prescriptions.
• Prior System Work History: At the time of name clear, you must explicitly state whether the provider has previously worked at any of the health system's facilities. If yes, you must include: 90-120 days for standard credentialing.
• Temporary Privileges: Available within approximately one week for clean files with rapid documentation submission.
