TEEMA Group seeks a Nurse Practitioner to work in a Wisconsin correctional facility, providing comprehensive care to incarcerated individuals within a multidisciplinary team. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage health needs with evidence-based medical care and coordinated treatment plans.

You will conduct exams, order tests, prescribe within state rules, manage chronic conditions, and maintain compliant documentation while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and mental health staff

Qualifications

  • Current Wisconsin NP license or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum one 1–2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage the healthcare needs of incarcerated individuals within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and clinical protocols.
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans.
  • Monitor and manage chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and other ongoing conditions.
  • Provide preventive healthcare, wellness counseling, and patient education.
  • Respond to urgent medical situations and collaborate with onsite healthcare staff to ensure appropriate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Job description

The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage the healthcare needs of incarcerated individuals within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The NP will provide evidence-based medical care, promote wellness, manage chronic conditions, and coordinate treatment plans while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.
  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and clinical protocols.
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans.
  • Monitor and manage chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and other ongoing conditions.
  • Provide preventive healthcare, wellness counseling, and patient education.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Wisconsin (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum one 1-2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, occupational health, or correctional healthcare.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience serving diverse and underserved populations.
