Job summary

Essen Health Care in New York is seeking a compassionate Neurology Nurse Practitioner to join our interdisciplinary team. In this role you’ll deliver comprehensive neurology care to residents in long-term care and, when needed, in acute settings, collaborating with neurologists and staff.

Candidates will have an NP license, DEA, CPR, and a master’s degree in nursing. Experience in neurology preferred, training provided if needed, and familiarity with EMR systems such as Sigma, Visual, or PCC is

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility (Hospital/outpatient office experience will also be considered).
• Active and unrestricted NP license.
• DEA license required.
• CPR certification (BCLS/BLS).
• Master’s degree in Nursing (NP applicants).
• Graduation from an accredited NP program.
• Preferred Experience in Neurology (training available if not).
• Preferred Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Sigma, Visual, PCC - training provided).
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide neurology consults for residents with neurological conditions.
• Evaluate and manage conditions including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, neuropathy, dementia, and movement disorders.
• Perform neurological examinations and cognitive assessments.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including imaging and lab studies.
• Manage neurologic medications and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with neurologists and interdisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients and caregivers about neurological conditions and treatment adherence.
• Maintain EMR documentation and regulatory compliance.
