Essen Health Care in New York, NY is seeking a compassionate Neurology Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team delivering neurology care to residents in long-term care and acute settings.

You will conduct neurology examinations, manage cases including stroke and Parkinson's disease, order tests, and collaborate with neurologists while ensuring regulatory compliance and patient education.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• Active and unrestricted NP license.
• DEA license required.
• CPR certification (BCLS/BLS).
• Master's degree in Nursing.
• Graduation from an accredited NP program - Neurology preferred (training available).
• Familiarity with EMR systems (Sigma, Visual, PCC) training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide neurology consults for residents with neurological conditions.
• Evaluate and manage conditions including stroke, Parkinson's disease, seizures, neuropathy, dementia, and movement disorders.
• Perform neurological examinations and cognitive assessments.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including imaging and lab studies.
• Manage neurologic medications and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with neurologists and interdisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients and caregivers about neurological conditions and treatment adherence.
• Maintain EMR documentation and regulatory compliance.
