Springwoods Behavioral Health, an 80-bed behavioral health facility located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, provides acute inpatient treatment for adolescent, adult, and specialty programs for women, with outpatient services as well. This Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner role oversees care quality for a caseload of about 20 patients under a supervising psychiatrist.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or Post-Master's Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience with psychiatric or mental health patients.
  • Active Arkansas State license as APRN. Active Arkansas State DEA license within six months of hire.
  • Active National Certification from an Approved Nursing Specialty Board.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols and uses evidence-based clinical practice standards under supervision.
  • Performs independent assessments, diagnostic functions, risk assessments, and makes critical decisions for a wide range of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations.
  • Obtains patient histories, conducts examinations, orders, performs, and interprets labs and imaging studies; diagnoses and treats acute health problems; provides health maintenance and referrals.
  • Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals; collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals; documents results and notes accurately in medical records.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families; performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures; adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Prescribes, manages, and supervises psychiatric medications; may prescribe controlled substances per Arkansas statute and supervisory protocol.
  • Provides quality assurance by monitoring records; evaluates hospital records and related data.
  • Coordinates with Medical Director to ensure high-quality medical services and back-up support as required.
  • Complies with Medical Staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Seeking a Full-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner!


Springwoods Behavioral Health, an 80-bed behavioral health facility located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, provides acute inpatient treatment for adolescent, adult, and specialty program for women. The hospital also offers outpatient treatment. Our six-acre campus is adjacent to a 123-acre Audubon Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, which is held in perpetuity and cannot be developed from its natural state. This provides Springwoods with a peaceful setting for those embarked on the road to recovery.


This position oversees the quality of care delivered to assigned patients (caseload of 20) with supervising psychiatrist. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested. The ARNP must be available to work on call and weekends. 32 hours a week and work some weekends.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations.

  • Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations. Orders, performs, and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies. Diagnoses and treats acute health problems. Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals.

  • Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals. Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records.

  • Explains the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, or staff. Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status. Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Prescribes, manages, and supervises medication treatment for psychiatric conditions. May prescribe controlled substances as stipulated in Arkansas statute and within the framework of established supervisory protocol.

  • Provides quality assurance review through monitoring accuracy and comprehensiveness of patient records. Evaluates hospital records, other psychiatric reports, and related data.

  • Coordinate with the Medical Director to ensure that the quality of medical services is of the highest caliber and provide competent medical physician back-up as required

  • Complies with all Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and facility policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
