Job summary

District Medical Group (DMG) in the Phoenix area is recruiting a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner to join our Internal Medicine Department.

The GI NP will collaborate with physicians to provide daily patient care as part of a health care team; involving assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patient problems, physician examinations, emergency care, referral, and patient education at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC) or at one of its FQHC locations, as directed by the Department Chair

Qualifications

• Collaborates with physicians to provide daily patient care as part of a healthcare team.
• Identifies health needs through history, exam, and tests and prioritizes care.
• Communicates and participates in patient education and health promotion.
• Performs appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tasks as part of gastroenterology care.

Responsibilities

• Identify health needs of patients through systematic assessment, utilizing history, physical evaluation, lab tests, and other diagnostic tools.
• Develop and record a plan of care which acknowledges the patient's needs and priorities.
• Participate in educational programs to prevent illness and promote, maintain, or restore health.
• Participate in health promotion efforts.
• Apply epidemiological methods for disease control.
• Participate in case conferences with physicians.
• Prescribe medication as appropriate.
• Perform laboratory tests as appropriate.
• Perform developmental screening of patients.
• Refer patients to specialized physicians as appropriate for further specialty evaluation.
• Perform other duties as requested.

DMG is actively recruiting for a Gastroenterology NP to join our Internal Medicine Department. The GI NP will collaborate with physician(s) to provide daily patient care as part of a health care team; involving assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patient problem(s), physician examinations, emergency care, referral, and patient education at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC) or at one of its FQHC locations, as directed by the Department Chair and/or Section Chief. Travel between Phoenix and Peoria clinics is required; primary site location will be the Phoenix clinic.
