Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to coordinate and deliver patient care in a Texas emergency department, serving neonates to geriatrics under the supervision of an ER physician. You will ensure quality, cost-effectiveness and patient satisfaction while adhering to state nursing standards.

The role requires current NP/PA certification, DEA license, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS. ER experience is preferred. You will participate in continuing education and uphold licensure requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Certification.
• Current DEA License.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• 1 year ER experience preferred.
• Education supports age-specific emergency care requirements.

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed professional, responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care in the emergency care setting, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Nurse Practitioner provides patient care for all ages in compliance with policies and procedures, and the standards of professional nursing standards as defined by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. With the Nurse Practitioner’s professional practice, he/she is responsible for participating in and maintaining quality, cost effectiveness and patient satisfaction. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant will practice under the supervision of the Emergency Room physician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Patient/Care and Testing: Provides patient care to all ages in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner Facilitates communication and ensures proper flow of information.
• Oversees patient flow in patient care and support areas.
• Performs head-to-toe assessments and psycho-social assessments on all patients Performs reassessments on all patients as needed
• Maintains current knowledge of medications and medication administration
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians and other departmental staff in a courteous professional manner
• Cleanliness maintains a clean working environment
• Staff Development – Maintains current licensure.
• Participates in continuing education through training and educational program.
• Perform other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned by management team

Qualifications, Education Experience, Skills

Required Education/ Experience:

• Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant’s Program
• Current Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Certification
• Current DEA License
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
• 1 year experience in an ER setting preferred
• Validation of the Clinical Skills as outlined in the orientation checklist
• Educational requirements appropriate for meeting age specific- needs of patients presenting to the emergency center including emergency procedures required for stabilization of patients of all ages

Physical Demands

• Work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area.
• Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort.
• Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required such as walking, standing and lifting materials, equipment, objects and/or patients.
• Occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs.
• Vision, hearing, talking and sense of touch abilities must be adequate enough to enable one to perform tasks quickly and accurately such as:

1. Reading small print,
2. Reading from monitoring equipment
3. Defining details
4. Sending and receiving
5. Clear and accurate verbal communication.

• Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory inputs.
• Shift work may be required.
• Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.
• May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation, and disoriented or combative patients.
• May be required to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations deemed necessary by a designated Nursing Administration.
