Job summary

University Health seeks a Physician Assistant to support neonatal care under the direction of the designated neonatal provider. The role includes comprehensive care for neonates up to 6 months, front-line delivery room and NICU care, plus well-baby nursery follow-up.

Requirements include Texas PA licensure, NCCPA certification renewal recommended, continued NRP, and prescriptive authority with DEA/DPS numbers to be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by CAAHEP or predecessor entities.
  • Currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.
  • NCCPA certification is recommended.
  • NRP certification maintained.
  • Prescriptive authority is required.
  • DEA and DPS numbers must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform neonatal-focused assignments under the direction of the designated neonatal provider.
  • Deliver comprehensive care to neonates up to 6 months old.
  • Provide front-line care for infants in the delivery room, well-baby nursery, and neonatal ICU.
  • Conduct follow-up care for newborns and infants.

Job description

Carries out, under the direction of the designated neonatal provider, assignments designed to develop expertise in specified area/specialty. Assignments will be centered around comprehensive care to neonates up to 6 months of age, high-quality front-line care for infants in the delivery room, well-baby nursery and neonatal intensive care unit, and follow-up care to newborns and infants.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Successful Completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, or by that committee’s predecessor or successor entities is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is recommended. Must be currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.

Must maintain current NRP. Prescriptive authority is required. Valid DEA and DPS numbers must be obtained within 90-days of hire.
