Job summary

Southeast Community Health Systems seeks a Dermatology-certified Nurse Practitioner to deliver primary healthcare, health maintenance, and disease prevention under physician supervision. The role includes exams across all ages, prescribing within scope, and coordinating tests with the medical team.

Required are a Master’s NP degree and current Louisiana APRN license with dermatology certification; BLS/ACLS and DEA/CDS where applicable are needed, along with strong English communication skills.

Responsible for providing primary healthcare to patients and families, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education and counseling. Works under direct supervision of a physician following established guidelines as required and within established scope of practice.

• Demonstrates the ability to perform physical exams on all patients, neonate through the geriatric population.
• Obtains and documents patient's medical history. Identifies health risk factors.
• Demonstrates the ability to diagnose and treat common acute illnesses.
• Demonstrates the ability to diagnose and treat chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests within established scope of practice and consults with medical director or specialists, i.e., laboratory work, x-rays.
• Provides patient care as approved under delineation of privileges.
• Demonstrates the ability to prescribe medications pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Agency and non-pharmacological therapies based on the patient's diagnoses, health history and age.
• Encourages positive health behaviors for the maintenance of health and the prevention of disease. This is done through education and counseling.
• Other reasonable duties as assigned

Requirements

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner's Program

Experience: Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the State of Louisiana (or valid compact state) in good standing with certification in the practice of Dermatology.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Other Requirements:

• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to perform minor office surgeries, apply splints, I&D
• BLS/ACLS Certification required
• Current, valid DEA and CDS licenses required (for applicable specialties)
