Job description

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a well-respected, nationally recognized and award-winning public healthcare system is seeking a Clinical Specialist II (APRN) to join our Malden Adult Outpatient Psychiatry clinic and Malden Community Behavioral Health Center. CHA is comprised of three Hospital campuses and an integrated network of both primary and specialty outpatient care practices in Cambridge, Somerville and Boston’s Metro North Region, with a fully integrated electronic medical record system (EPIC). The CHA Department of Psychiatry is recognized as a leader in patient care, teaching and research.

The Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Department and new CHA Malden CBHC is located in Malden providing both a range of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology treatments, as well as, walk-in/urgent care. The new CHA CBHC Malden program provides behavioral health evaluation and initial treatment services for individuals of all ages.

This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary mix of talented clinicians, affiliated with a Harvard Medical School teaching institution, working in a system committed to caring for minorities and other disadvantaged patients presenting with a cross section of Mental Illness.

  • 40 Hours/week; Days/Evenings, MNA Everett Union
  • Provide evaluations and treatment for an assigned caseload of clients providing a range of psychosocial care.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team and program leadership.
  • Facilitate clinical coordination of admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure a smooth patient flow.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing awareness of and participation in the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Initiates and collaborates with unit colleagues to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical standards.
  • Assess medication needs of selected patients and prescribe medication according to established practice guidelines.
  • Administer medication according to nursing policy and procedure.
  • Collaborate with medical director in coordination and provision of psychopharmacologic treatment and consult with Geriatric Service and Mental Health staff around treatment, including psychoactive medications.
  • Provide mental health consultation to staff of area nursing homes, homes, clinics, and or community caregivers. Organize and participate in case conferences as needed.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support “C” Certification. Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing by the American Nursing Association.

Ideal Candidates will have 2 years of experience in the advanced practice role and must be a graduate of an accredited National League of Nursing graduate school of nursing. Master’s degree (Nursing preferred) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing or relevant clinical area. Current Massachusetts licensure is required authorizing practice in an expanded role as a Psychiatric Nurse Clinical Specialist and authorization including prescriptive authority.
