Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento is seeking a Cath Lab Nurse Practitioner to deliver direct patient care during cardiac interventional procedures and to coordinate flow through pre- and post-procedure phases.

You will collaborate with cardiologists and interventionalists, enter orders, manage transfers, discharge planning, and educate patients while ensuring compliance with standardized procedures.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a registered nurse and NP with state certification.
• Master’s degree in nursing with current NP credential.
• Provider number (NPI) and eligibility to obtain DEA license.
• BLS and ACLS certification per AHA requirements.
• Strong cardio interventional nursing skills and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for patients undergoing cardiac interventional procedures.
• Evaluate findings, initiate treatments, and coordinate admissions and discharges.
• Enter pre- and post-procedure orders and triage transfers.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Cath Lab Nurse Practitioner, you will provide direct care to patients undergoing cardiac interventional procedures. You will help streamline and expedite patient flow by evaluating normal and abnormal findings, initiating treatments, and coordinating admissions and discharges in accordance with approved Standardized Procedures.

Every day you will enter pre- and post-procedure orders, facilitate and triage transfer patients being evaluated for procedures, and collaborate with cardiologists and cardiac interventionalists on new consults and ongoing treatment plans. You will follow patients through discharge, manage unexpected post-procedure complications, provide patient education and counseling, manage incisions and dressings, and complete consults and documentation in collaboration with the cardiologist. You will also discharge patients from the Cardiac Interventional Unit and Cardiac Support Unit, including medication reconciliation, and document medication changes or complications in a brief progress note.

To be successful in this role, you must provide care in accordance with the Standardized Procedures approved by the Mercy General Hospital Committees for Credentials, Interdisciplinary Practice, and Cardiology. Program coverage is six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

We are offering a $15,000 Sign On Bonus to new h ires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Required

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Completion of an accredited program for nurse practitioner, and certification as a nurse practitioner

• Eligible to apply for furnishing and DEA license in order to prescribe medications within approved standardized procedure
• BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Master’s degree in nursing

Preferred

• Experience as an acute care Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner
• Acute Care NP Certification
