Job summary

Mass General Brigham's cardiology clinic in Northampton, MA seeks a full-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team. This 40-hour role runs 5 days a week, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, in the office with two days per week in the stress lab at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Under physician supervision, the NP/PA will take histories and exams, order tests, develop care plans, manage medications, and document thoroughly. Weekend call rotation is involved.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing required.
• APRN license (state) required.
• 2 years NP experience required (1-2 years acceptable)
• 3+ years NP/PA in cardiology/heart failure preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, counseling, and education in ambulatory, inpatient, and procedural settings.

Job description

Our cardiology clinic is located at 22 Atwood Drive in Northampton, MA. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team. The schedule for this position will consist of (5) 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The anticipated breakdown is 36 clinical/patient facing hours and 4 hours dedicated to administrative time. This NP/PA will have clinical responsibilities primarily in the office/clinic setting, with additional responsibilities in the stress lab at Cooley Dickinson Hospital (30 Locust St, Northampton, MA) two days per week. The NP/PA will also be part of the weekend call rotation - approximately 1 in 9 weekends.

Under the direction of a physician, the NP/PA will assess and manage follow-up patients in the outpatient setting following established standards and practices. Services may include performing complete histories and physical exams, performing or ordering simple diagnostic tests, preparing a diagnosis and implementing procedures for illnesses as well as urgent cases.

Essential Functions

• Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
