Reports To: Director of Behavioral Health

Summary:

Avel eCare is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner for our Behavioral Health team. This role assumes responsibility for the medical management of patients in Avel eCare Behavioral Health under the supervision of a physician. Nurse Practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the states in which they provide services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other staff (RN, support specialists, MSWs) on shift for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting to emergency departments, medical inpatient units, and behavioral health/crisis stabilization units.
• Assess patients for acute suicide and violence risk, and recommend appropriate levels of care, including collaboration with family when indicated.
• Place direct admit orders for patients requesting inpatient behavioral health/crisis stabilization support.
• Assist with rounding and evaluation of patients in all supported environments.
• Discuss patient cases with accepting psychiatric facilities as requested.
• Assist in completing Crisis Response Plans with patients to support nursing staff.
• Recognize and react to environmental safety factors; understand and support practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards; provide patient education on environmental care and safety; follow all procedures and standards outlined by Avel eCare; contribute to practice goals; ensure QA reports are prepared for regulatory agencies.
• Maximize clinical education opportunities for staff, patients, and families.
• Participate in evaluating Avel eCare metrics and performance against clinical aims.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and agencies to coordinate services and promote quality care.
• Demonstrate clinical, interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Enhance unit collaboration, streamline workflows, and support high clinical standards; assist leadership in remediation strategies when needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of an NLN-accredited school of nursing or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program is required.
• Master’s or Doctorate degree required.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in Florida required.
• Must reside in Florida.
• APRN licensure within states where Avel eCare provides inpatient services within 9 months of hire.
• Federal and/or State DEA license within states where services are provided within 9 months of hire.
• Active Federal and State DEA certification required.
• Complete state-specific certification/education within initial and renewal periods.
