Job description

Job Summary: In collaboration with the physician, the nurse practitioner provides care to new or established patients, demonstrating autonomy through patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care. The NP orders testing as deemed necessary, interprets results, and prescribes appropriate medication and therapeutic regimens within the scope of practice. These responsibilities are performed in cooperation with nursing, staff physicians, and other department staff and may include triage, telephone communication and patient education.

Job Duties
  • Assess and establish a presumptive diagnosis and implement treatment plans for their patient population.
  • Make accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record; order and interpret diagnostic testing and consult as appropriate.
  • Prescribe, adjust, or discontinue medications or therapies as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and report to the collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that present a significant risk to patient health or well‑being.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner license.
  • Communicate with the collaborative physician, patient, primary care provider and referring staff through telephone or other means of correspondence.
  • Act as the patient’s advocate by providing safe, ethical care and health education in a language the patient can understand.
  • Interpret and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Expected call on a rotation basis shared by a large pool of providers.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s Degree – Nurse Practitioner (Required)
  • Experience: Certification(s) and license(s) including Basic Life Support, Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania)
  • Experience Required: PMHNP required; additional opportunity may be available for providers with dual Family Practice/PMHNP.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
