Job summary

Penn Medicine CPUP is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner-Mental Health to join the Psychiatry/Behavioral Medicine team. The role spans general outpatient care and the new multidisciplinary TEAM Clinic, with a focus on improving access to treatment.

The position combines direct patient care with collaboration across physicians, psychologists, and allied health professionals in a hybrid work setting, offering opportunities for clinical leadership and education within a renowned academic

Qualifications

  • Active PA RN license and CRNP licensure in PA are required.
  • Prescriptive Authority required.
  • National Board Certification required.
  • BLS/CPR for healthcare providers required.
  • MS in Nursing or DNP in Nursing required.
  • Minimum 2.5 years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical care for patient population according to established protocols with team collaboration.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential medical records in the EHR.
  • Identifies patient and family roles and collaborates with physicians when outside scope.
  • Performs interventions appropriate to patient population within collaborative agreement.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to meet care standards.
  • Demonstrates professional responsibility and acts as a role model for the team.
  • Provides patient education, counseling, and instruction on diagnosis and treatment.
  • Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
  • Precepts NP students and learners; refers patients to community resources as needed.
  • Performs duties in line with Penn Medicine values, policies, and procedures.

Location: Penn Behavioral Health Market Street- 3535 Market St

Hours: M-F 8a-5p Hybrid Position

Summary

The Certified Nurse Practitioner-Mental Health will work in both the general outpatient clinic and the new multidisciplinary TEAM Clinic. Both models are focused on increasing patient access to treatment. The TEAM Clinic offers an innovative clinical care model using an evidence-based and collaborative approach (medication management and psychotherapy) to mental health treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct clinical care for patient population according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based practice standards in collaboration with team.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Identifies self properly to the patient and family and clarifies the role of the nurse practitioner if necessary.
  • The nurse practitioner should function within their scope and refer to the collaborating physician when outside of scope, and/or directed by the collaborating physician or when requested by the patient and/or family.
  • Performs interventions specific to assigned patient population and collaborative agreement.
  • Participates in the performance improvement processes to meet quality of care and service standards.
  • Demonstrates awareness of professional responsibility as role model to peers and members of the health care team.
  • Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status.
  • Addresses patient and family concerns and creates a therapeutic relationship to provide support.
  • Provide patient education, counseling and instruction regarding patient diagnosis, medical treatments, medications, and preventative care.
  • Participate in and support accreditation, compliance and regulatory activities of the organization.
  • Precept NP students and other health care learners.
  • Identifies patient/family needs for community resources and refers appropriately.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Credentials
  • BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (For providers in the ambulatory setting) required
  • Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
  • CRNP licensure (CRNP) - PA (Required)
  • Prescriptive Authority (Required)
  • National Board Certification (Required)
Education and Equivalent Experience
  • Master of Science OR Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nursing (Required)
  • And > 2.5 years of experience
