Position Overview

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (“ACP”) provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and education to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The role involves coordinating treatment with other healthcare entities and delivering care in accordance with accreditation standards, laws, and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct evaluations for patients with acute behavioral health issues in the Emergency Department, including history taking, physical examinations, and mental health assessments.
• Treatment Planning: Develop and implement treatment plans involving diagnostics, medications, and patient education, always prioritizing patient best interests.
• Documentation: Maintain timely and accurate records of patient interactions and interventions using the Electronic Medical Record system.
• Quality Improvement & Patient Satisfaction: Participate in quality assurance activities and utilize patient feedback to improve care standards.
• Practice Operations & Collaboration: Work with healthcare teams, participate in meetings, and adhere to policies on infection control, confidentiality, and billing.
• Education & Scheduling: Engage in ongoing education initiatives and manage a flexible schedule averaging 38.5 clinical hours per week, with administrative time allocated.
• Credentialing & Compliance: Complete necessary credentialing processes and comply with all relevant policies and procedures.

Qualifications
