Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH, seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The role is full-time with rotating day/night shifts, every third weekend, and one winter and one summer holiday per year.

Eight night shifts per eight-week block are included. Providing care to critically ill pediatric patients, the candidate will assess and plan care, perform procedures, and lead education for staff while aligning with hospital and unit

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant clinical field required.
  • Licensure as APRN or PA in Ohio required.
  • National certification as APRN or PA required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and/or populations; develops, implements and evaluates plans of care; documents and communicates information clearly.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per guidelines for patient care.
  • Acts as a clinical expert for policies, procedures, documentation and skills using evidence-based practice.
  • Educates and develops training for staff; participates in quality improvement and data auditing.
  • Utilizes technology and informatics to optimize healthcare outcomes.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and contributes to division, specialty goals, and hospital plan.

  • Liver, Kidney, and Bone Marrow Transplantation

Job Description
Essential Functions:
  • Assesses patients and/or populations; develops, implements and evaluates plans of care; clearly documents and communicates information both in written and verbal forms.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established guidelines and standards as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Utilizing evidence based practice, serves as a clinical expert for policies, procedures, documentation, and skills.
  • Assists in the education, training and development of new and existing staff members.
  • Engages in the “community of the work unit” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, engages in Quality Improvement.

Education Requirement

Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Ohio, required.
