Job summary

Oak Grove Recovery in Columbus, OH is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to oversee assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with substance use disorders. You will prescribe medications, perform exams, and ensure care is delivered with dignity and precision in accordance with regulatory standards.

The role includes aftercare planning, periodic psychiatric and medical evaluations, on-call region coverage, and collaboration with the Treatment Team to drive patient recovery.

Qualifications

  • Must hold active Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ nursing experience in mental health preferred.
  • Prior experience in chemical dependency preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ managerial experience preferred.
  • Personal passion for substance abuse issues strongly preferred.
  • Committed to drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use.

Responsibilities

  • Take calls for their region one day per week, or two days if PTO/out unexpectedly. Calls outside normal hours route to on-call provider; standard response time 30 minutes.
  • Direct patient care, including use of prescription medications, through written or standing orders.
  • Assess face-to-face all patients at all levels of care who have a medical complaint.
  • Direct aftercare and discharge planning as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate state licensure.
  • No pending or past sanctions, debarments, suspensions, or exclusions by any federally funded healthcare program.
  • Act in accordance with facility policies and standards including regulatory requirements.
  • Perform a thorough psychiatric evaluation within 24 hours of admission.
  • Perform a thorough medical history and physical examination within 24 hours of admission.
  • Assess face-to-face all Detoxification level patients 365 days a year.
  • Assess face-to-face all other patients at least weekly.
  • Attend Treatment Team meetings and other appointments to support coordinated care and review progress toward goals.

The Nurse Practitioner oversees the process of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with medical complaints or potential medical issues using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and nursing treatments. This person will work efficiently to attain and maintain the highest level of care in accordance with regulatory standards. They also perform History & Physical Exams and Physical Evaluations as delegated by the Medical Director and play a vital function in aiding clients on their road to recovery.

Responsibilities
  • Each provider is required to take calls for their region one day per week, or two days per week if another provider is on PTO or out unexpectedly. Calls outside of normal business hours will route to the provider on call. Standard response time is 30 minutes
  • Direct patient care, including the use of prescription medications, whether through written or standing orders
  • Assess face to face all patients at all levels of care who have a valid medical complaint
  • Direct aftercare and discharge planning as needed
  • Maintain appropriate state licensure
  • Have no pending or past sanctions, debarments, suspensions, or exclusions by any federally funded healthcare program, including Medicare and Medicaid
  • Act in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards of the facility including all relevant regulations of JCAHO and State Regulations
  • Perform a thorough psychiatric evaluation within the first 24 hours following a patient’s admission
  • Perform a thorough medical history and physical examination within the first 24 hours following a patient’s admission
  • Assess face-to-face all patients at a Detoxification level of care 365 days per year
  • Assess face-to-face all other patients at least once per week of their stay
  • Attend all Treatment Team meetings and other appointments requested to support coordinated patient care and review progress toward treatment goals
Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing in a mental health setting preferred
  • Prior experience in the chemical dependency field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a managerial role preferred
  • Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred
  • Must be committed to drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use
