Job Description

Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner assessesand responds to the health needs of the student population at SarahLawrence College, providing a range of primary care services. Thisrole works collaboratively with the College's contracted externalphysician and internal medical staff to ensure comprehensive care.The Nurse Practitioner exercises clinical judgment in diagnosingand managing health issues, offers health education, and makesreferrals as needed to off-campus providers to promote studentwell-being.

Schedule

3 day per week position Monday, Wednesday, Thursdays 9am-5pm – 6month position-October 1st- May 15th for a 1 year appointment; opportunity to become an annual 10 month academic year role for a candidate that is a good fit.

Essential Duties Summary

Essential Functions

• Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and injuries followingstandardized clinical procedures.
• Provide sexual and reproductive health services, througheducating on sexual health concerns, prescribing contraception, andSTI management.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory workand imaging studies.
• Manage the in-house formulary, including prescribing anddispensing medications and vaccines.
• Document patient interactions and update medical records toreflect treatment plans and follow-up care.
• Make referrals to external healthcare providers and ensurecontinuity of care for students.
• Participate in Health & Wellness outreach initiatives topromote student engagement and health education.

Additional Responsibilities

• Evaluate and order new medical products as needed for clinicaloperations.
• Participate in regular staff meetings and continuing educationto maintain professional certifications and licensure.
• Collaborate with campus partners, including the AthleticTrainer and Residence Life, and the Office of Access and DisabilityServices to coordinate care as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state and institutionalpolicies, including OSHA, HIPAA and FERPA, to upholdconfidentiality and data privacy standards.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current New York State Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurselicensure .
• Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years of clinical experience, preferably inprimary care or public health.
• CPR and BLS for healthcare providers
• Proficient in phlebotomy.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records and MicrosoftOffice Suite.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

• Moderately sedentary, involving periods of sitting and computeruse.
• Frequent verbal and written communication required.
• Capacity to organize and synthesize detailed information tomake clinical determinations.
• Occasional walking/standing/use of medical equipmentrequired.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a college health setting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work bothindependently and collaboratively.
