Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to add to our team performing medical review work with the Armed Forces’ Department of Quality and Performance. This full-time role can be hybrid or fully remote. The work entails reviewing patient complaints made to the CAF on the health services received by members at CAF medical & dental clinics.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of patient complaints and grievances,
• Review of medical dossiers pertaining to Ministerial Communications Unit and Ombudsman office requests for subject matter expert opinions,
• Acting as the Medical Advisor to both summary investigations (SI) and boards of inquiry (BOI), and
• Completion of Director Medical Policy (DMedPol) / Director Military Careers Administration (DMCA) secondary reviews of permanent medical categories and member release items;

Qualifications

Along with your professional license to practice, applicants should also have:

• Experience in administration and policy review,
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine,
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Forces Health Information System (electronic medical records),
• Advanced writing skills (lengthy reports to be written),
• Capable of researching medical topics / reading medical literature,
• Understanding of current medical standards / guidelines
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience.

Additional Requirements

You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
