Job summary

The University of Utah Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care and treatment to a group of patients in a clinic or hospital unit, under state law and within scope of practice.

Clinical duties include assessments, forming medical plans, ordering tests, prescribing therapies, documenting care, and collaborating with physicians. Practice locations include West Valley and other University of Utah sites.

Qualifications

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Utah.
• ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by department.
• Utah prescriptive privileges.
• Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency and a national certification.

• Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
• Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
• Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
• Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
• Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.

Job Summary

Clinical practice location will include West Valley among other University of Utah locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

Preferred

• Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.


• Utah State prescriptive privileges.


• Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.


• UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.


• This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
