Job summary

The University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care to UW-Madison students. This 0.8 FTE position focuses on promoting health and well-being in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Nursing, relevant certifications, and at least 2 years of clinical experience. Competitive salary of $95,824.00 negotiable based on qualifications. Excellent benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Experience in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Urgent Care settings.
  • Current certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult‑Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP).
  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Current Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) license or eligibility to obtain.

Job description

University Health Services is hiring an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a primary care-focused role providing care to UW‑Madison students in a collaborative, team‑based setting. This 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) position supports our mission to promote, protect, and improve student health and well‑being.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well‑being of patients and those around them
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats illnesses, and manages chronic health problems
  • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
  • Develops, implements, collects data, and evaluates primary health care services as directed by individual care plans
  • Develops individualized care plans based on medical assessments in accordance with medical best practices and established rules and regulations
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner
  • Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Urgent Care settings
  • Current certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult‑Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
  • Current Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with college students or young adults, with sensitivity to a diverse student population
  • Experience in evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries
  • Experience performing in‑office procedures (e.g., cryotherapy, incision and drainage, ingrown toenail removal, laceration repair) or willingness to learn
  • Experience providing gender‑affirming care

Compensation

The starting salary is $95,824.00 and is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
