NURSE PRACTITIONER

Salary Range: $145,000.00 To $145,000.00 Annually

Reports to: Advanced Practice Provider Manager

About the Role

Under the general supervision of physician faculty, the Pediatric Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner coordinates care for pediatric orthopedic patients across outpatient and urgent care settings, managing acute, chronic, surgical, and congenital conditions. This role may carry independent responsibility for fracture and subspecialty clinics, with the potential to assist in physician-led clinics.

What You'll Do
  • Perform evaluative non-surgical consults, including pre-operative exams
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as fracture reduction, injections and aspirations, splinting, and casting/cast removal
  • Take patient histories, complete assessments, and develop evidence-based plans of care and discharge plans
  • Order, review, and evaluate laboratory and radiology studies
  • Manage non-surgical orthopedic problems independently within scope of practice; manage surgical problems in collaboration with physicians
  • Make independent clinical decisions consistent with California laws and regulations
  • Assist physicians with surgical and orthopedic procedures in clinic and Urgent Care, including fracture reductions, as needed
  • Document care in a timely manner per organizational policy
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team
  • Provide patient and family education
  • May help train incoming nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other new hires
  • Contribute to nursing protocols and orthopedic care algorithms
  • May assist in the operating room
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Active California RN license and California Nurse Practitioner license
  • National Provider Identification Number (NPI)
  • BCLS and PALS certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of related experience
  • National Certification from AANP, ANCC, or the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses
  • EMR experience
Additional Requirements
  • Individual DEA license (Schedule II–V).
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including some weekends, rotating between the Outpatient Clinic and Urgent Care Center
  • Flexibility to adjust clinic volume/coverage based on operational needs
  • May require travel to satellite facilities

This role is based in an outpatient department, urgent care center, and orthopedic clinic setting, with exposure to x-rays, cast saws, paging systems, and a high-volume pediatric patient population.
